General

What is Voltaire Reader?

Voltaire Reader is a native RSS/Atom reader for Android that pulls news from your favorite sources into one place and can automatically translate it into your language.

Is the app free?

Yes. The Basic version is free and ad-free — add your own feeds, read and save articles locally. Voltaire Pro (an optional paid subscription) additionally unlocks unlimited cloud translation and backup to Google Drive.

What feeds can I add?

Any publicly available RSS or Atom feed — just enter the site's address or the feed URL directly. You can import or export your feed list as OPML at any time.

Translation

How does translation work?

An article's title and summary are sent for processing to Voltaire Cloud, where they're translated by the Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite model. The newest articles are translated first, the rest in the background — the translated text appears as soon as it's ready.

Why does an article show “Translating…”?

Translation usually takes just a few seconds. If you have many new articles open at once, they're processed one by one — the freshest headlines come first.

Can I use my own translation key (e.g. DeepL)?

Not currently — integrating your own API keys from external translation services isn't supported. Translation is provided exclusively by Voltaire Cloud.

Voltaire Pro & subscription

What exactly do I get with Voltaire Pro?

Unlimited cloud translation for all articles, plus backup/sync of your feed list (OPML) to your personal Google Drive.

How does the 7-day trial work?

After signing in with your Google account, you get 7 days of full access to Voltaire Pro features for free. The trial period is counted from your first sign-in.

What happens after the trial ends if I don't activate the subscription?

Access to cloud features (translation, backup) stops and the app switches to Basic mode — your feeds and saved articles stay stored locally, so you don't lose anything.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You manage your subscription directly through Google Play (Account settings → Payments & subscriptions). The app itself doesn't handle payments or cancellations.

Privacy & data

Do I need an account to use the app?

No. Basic mode works entirely without registration — you only need a Google account to unlock Voltaire Pro.

How do I delete my data?

Local data (feeds, saved and read articles) is deleted by uninstalling the app or via your device Settings. Voltaire Pro cloud data (account identifier, token usage) can be deleted directly in the app via the “Delete Account” feature in settings. More in our Privacy Policy.
